Gold Leaf Mini Mandala
- by Dev Team
Great work by designconfections
"So I went full on with the first glimmering proper of a watercolour mini mandala - at a neat and tidy 13cm diameter paper size by Hahnemuhle and painted up in Winsor and Newton watercolours I went ahead and sized (size is the name for gold leaf ‘glue’) and then later applied 23.5 carat gold leaf to this very first mini ‘precious’ mandala. I managed to use just one precious sheet on this mandala and I was well pleased with how quickly my hand got back in with gold leaf gossamer sheets but look at the close up and you’ll see my hand for sure is not in with painting on the size - that’s something I really need to refine and I need to add pigment to the size because painting white size on white paper leaves a lot to be desired - especially when you see the mistakes you have made after the leaf is applied - yikes 😱
Couldn’t resist adding this after a friend just reminded me “Recent astronomical discoveries have revealed that gold originated in outer space, from the collision of neutron stars.” A fact I believe accounts for its other worldly glow!
I’ll tidy this one up and then do it’s companion perhaps tomorrow to keep the learning memory curve going - talking of which do you know you actually log in what you’ve learned, even with muscle memory, during REM sleep and not necessarily at the time you are doing! Fascinating!"
Onwards - Patricia 🙏😘🐝💛🖤
