Walking through the Mews offers a fascinating insight into the meticulous preparation and care that goes into every royal procession.  From the moment we entered, it was clear that every detail reflects centuries of tradition. One of the most memorable aspects of the visit was seeing the magnificent collection of state coaches. Their intricate craftsmanship, elaborate gilding, and rich historical significance make them far more than simply modes of transport—they are moving works of art that tell the story of Britain's royal history.  The undeniable centrepiece of the collection was the spectacular State Coronation Coach. Seeing this extraordinary carriage in person was nothing short of breathtaking. Its scale, intricate detailing, and regal presence cannot truly be appreciated through photographs alone.  Every inch of the coach showcases exceptional artistry, from its ornate carvings and lavish gold decoration to the beautifully painted panels that depict scenes from British history and mythology. Standing just a few feet away, it was impossible not to admire the remarkable level of craftsmanship that has preserved this iconic symbol of the monarchy for generations.  Although photography restrictions meant that certain vehicles within the Royal Mews could not be photographed, these measures helped preserve the exclusivity and significance of the collection. Thankfully, visitors were still permitted to capture images of several of the state carriages, allowing us to take home lasting memories of an unforgettable experience.

Beyond the coaches themselves, the Royal Mews is also home to the magnificent Windsor Grey and Cleveland Bay horses that have become an iconic part of royal ceremonial processions. Their impeccable grooming and calm temperament reflect the dedication of the staff who care for them every day.

The tour also highlighted how tradition continues to evolve. Alongside centuries-old coaches, visitors can see the modern vehicles used by the Royal Household, demonstrating how contemporary transport sits comfortably alongside historic ceremonial practices.
