Gum Arabic Crystals
Gum arabic is sap from the acacia tree that dries to form translucent honey-colored "crystals" of resin. This material is used as a binder in watercolours and some tempera mediums, as a strong adhesive, and as a size for various industrial purposes. In watercolour it serves very well as a binder as it is not called upon to form a thick film.
