Shellac Varnish

Shellac Varnish is a fast drying varnish recommended to apply over metal leaf to prevent tarnishing. It can also be used to seal absorbent surfaces prior to sizing, for sealing gesso prior to gilding and as a protective coating over gilded surfaces. It is cellulose based and brushes should be cleaned with methylated spirits.
