Agate Burnishers

Made from the finest agate stone and set in a metal ferrule and wooden handle. These are used in the final process of gilding to create a bright mirror finish by polishing the Gold Leaf. The agate burnishers are available in many different shapes and sizes depending on the gilding project, the classic and most popular being the dog tooth shape. Agate Burnishers are mostly used when water gilding and for calligraphy. When burnishing your Gold Leaf you should always ensure that the gilding size underneath in completely dry otherwise you will scrape the gold leaf away.
