Glass gilding is a meticulous and intricate process that involves applying delicate sheets of gold leaf to the surface of glass to create a luminous, reflective effect. This traditional craft begins with the preparation of the glass, ensuring it is thoroughly cleaned and free from any grease or impurities.

A water-based adhesive or gelatin size is then carefully brushed onto the surface, providing a tacky base for the gold leaf to adhere. The gold leaf, often handled with special tools to prevent damage, is gently laid onto the adhesive and smoothed out using a soft brush to eliminate air bubbles and wrinkles. Once the adhesive dries, excess gold leaf is brushed away, revealing a seamless, gilded surface.

Often used for decorative signs, mirrors, or architectural details, glass gilding combines artistic skill with precision, resulting in an elegant and timeless finish.
